what was your hair brush made of? I go for wood backed, natural bristle ones. The type I buy still have some plastic prongs too so are still scratchy, if you like that option as well...
Go for one made of wood, as the plastic will fracture, every time. Try Bass or Widu brands.
also wood ones tend to be all one piece, instead of separate components, which helps too of course.
